Our Journey
The owners of The Barracks at Oyster Creek met in Monterey, California while serving in the military over 30 years ago. In this beautiful place, they fell for each other and fell for wine. 10 moves, 5 children, countless friends, and many bottles of wine later, Aaron and Stacy settled into a farmhouse near Aaron’s boyhood home in Nobleboro, Maine. That first year brought raspberries, pears, apples, strawberries, and even a few plums. One night, looking out at the back field, and sipping some you-know-what, Aaron asked the obvious. Why don’t we plant a vineyard? And that’s all she wrote. With the help of a photogenic vineyard keeper in training, their granddaughter, they set off on a new adventure.

Oh, and the name? Well, that seemed obvious, too. With 5 children, some of whom chose military service as well, grandchildren, and many friends and guests coming and going, their farm serves as a barracks of sorts. And running through it is Oyster Creek, just up from where it meets the Great Salt Bay and becomes the beautiful Damariscotta River.
